Atlantic Pilot Program Canada

The Atlantic Immigration Program allows capable foreign workers and international graduates of a Canadian university to work and live in one of Canada’s four Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, or Newfoundland and Labrador. Employers can use the programme to find competent individuals for positions that they haven’t been able to fill locally.

On December 31, 2021, the Atlantic Immigration Pilot came to an end. You have until March 5, 2022 to apply for permanent residence under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot if you got a valid provincial certificate of endorsement before December 31, 2021.

The pilot has been succeeded by the Atlantic Immigration Program. Starting March 6, 2022, you can apply for permanent residence under the new scheme.

What precisely is the AIP, and why is it observed as a success?

Atlantic Canada has one of the country’s oldest populations. In these provinces, a enormous number of workers are diffident, while few new workers are arriving.

While this is a anxiety across the country, it is mainly acute in Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia on the east coast.

In Canada, the demographic challenges of an ageing population have long been a rationale in favour of economic immigration. Despite the success of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which was established in 1998 to meet regional labour market and demographic needs, Atlantic Canada has had difficulty retaining immigrants.

Then there’s AIP. According to an IRCC statement from the winter, it was launched in 2017 and has already begun to show early indicators of success. According to the investigate, the AIP is helping to improve holding rates in the area.

Immigrants who come to Atlantic Canada under the AIP are given a job and a settling plan from a recognised service provider. These mechanisms address the reasons why numerous immigrants leave the area owing to a lack of employment prospects. Those who stay are often drawn to the part by family or friends.
