Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program

The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) enables the province to propose persons for Permanent Resident Status who meet certain conditions. The NLPNP provides the following services:

  • An efficient immigration process for qualified skilled workers, international graduates, and their families who wish to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador; and
  • Support from provincial Immigration Program Development Officers who can explain programme requirements and guide applicants through the application process.

The NLPNP allows Newfoundland and Labrador to nominate up to 1,050 people each year under the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, and Express Entry-Skilled Worker categories.

What is the minimum CRS score for Newfoundland PNP?

On the Newfoundland and Labrador Express Entry Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid, candidates must score at least 67 points. Candidates must meet Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s settlement money requirements (IRCC).

What are the benefits of Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program?  

Under the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Market Development Agreement, the Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour provides a variety of employment and training programmes and services to:

  • Assisting individuals in preparing for, obtaining, and maintaining employment;
  • Assisting employers in obtaining the personnel they require;
  • Assisting towns and regions across Newfoundland and Labrador in responding to labour market opportunities and problems.

Program for Developing Skills

The Skills Development Program provides financial assistance to eligible individuals who are seeking full-time post-secondary training at a public or private training institution for a period of 12 weeks or more, or short-term training for a period of less than 12 weeks at a public or private training institution. Individuals who take part in Skills Development may be compelled to contribute financially to the cost of their training.

Job Creation Partnerships

The Job Creation Partnerships (JCP) programme is intended to help non-profit projects in the community. EI-eligible individuals will be able to earn work experience through these projects, which will help them enhance their job prospects. Both the participant and the community should benefit from project activity. The JCP program’s main goal is to assist insured individuals who require work experience in order to improve their prospects of finding long-term employment.

Subsidy Programs for Wages

Employers are financed to generate work opportunities for unemployed or underemployed people, students, recent graduates, apprentices, and people with disabilities under the Department of Immigration, Skills, and Labour’s wage subsidy programmes.

Self-Employment Assistance

Self-Employment Assistance is a job creation programme that offers qualifying persons with financial and entrepreneurial assistance to help them start a business and create jobs for themselves. The programme has two components: one for organisations serving as programme coordinators and one for individuals seeking assistance.

Employment Services

Individuals can use the department’s services and supports to help them achieve their employment goals, and employers can use them to help with recruiting, retention, and skill development.

Partnerships in the Labor Market

Employers, employer or employee associations, community groups, and communities can receive financing through the Labour Market Partnerships Program to help them create and implement labour market strategies and activities to deal with labour force changes and satisfy human resource needs. Labour Market Partnerships can help those who are currently working but are at risk of losing their jobs.

Forms and Resources for Employment and Training

LaMPSS is a new Agreement Management system introduced by the Department of Immigration, Skills and Labour (ISL). There is a one-time registration process, after which you will be given a User ID. Please fill out and submit an online fillable LaMPSS Organization Registration Form to join LaMPPS.
